Activities
I am a researcher at the Center for Marine Technology Research and Do Son Oceanographic Museum, ISTEE, VAST, where I am responsible for conducting scientific research, developing proposals for national and international projects, publishing findings, and promoting marine environmental education for the public. My work spans across research, policy advocacy, and community engagement with a strong focus on marine environmental chemistry, water quality monitoring, and sustainable development models for Vietnam’s coastal and island regions.
Marine environmental research & water quality monitoring: I design and conduct field surveys, lead water, sediment, and biota sampling campaigns, and analyze key physicochemical, hydrochemical, and toxicological indicators to assess marine water quality. Through collaboration with research teams and policymakers, I contribute to identifying pollution sources, proposing remediation strategies, and shaping evidence‑based policies for sustainable resource management at both national and regional levels.
Developing green and circular economy models: I lead initiatives to design and implement sustainable blue economy and circular economy solutions tailored to island and coastal communities. My work includes socio‑economic assessments, stakeholder consultations, and model development to encourage efficient resource use, promote resilience, and mitigate environmental degradation. These models address pressing challenges such as ecological vulnerability, unsustainable growth patterns, and socio‑economic inequality.
Community engagement & capacity building: In collaboration with colleagues, I implement outreach and training programs to strengthen community awareness and participation in sustainable practices. Activities include public campaigns, training on waste management and pollution control, and initiatives to support eco‑tourism, such as English language teaching for local youth. These programs enhance environmental stewardship, improve livelihoods, and connect local communities more closely with the sustainable use of marine resources.
In summary, my work bridges scientific research, applied policy, and community action to foster marine environmental protection and socio‑economic resilience. By linking high‑quality data with policy support and grassroots capacity building, I aim to advance the shared goals of the UN Ocean Decade for a healthier and more sustainable ocean.
