Lead research on the biodiversity, connectivity, and resilience of deep-sea ecosystems, with a focus on hard-bottom seafloor habitats and their associated fauna. Develop and apply environmental genomics tools—including eDNA sampling, high-throughput sequencing, and bioinformatics pipelines—to monitor marine biodiversity. Integrate multi-omics data with oceanographic, biogeochemical, and imaging datasets to understand ecosystem function and inform conservation. Coordinate and serve as Chief Scientist on multidisciplinary oceanographic cruises. Collaborate internationally across scientific, engineering, and policy sectors to develop innovative technologies that address marine exploration and monitoring needs. Engage in teaching, mentoring, and capacity building in molecular ecology and ocean sciences.
